cometh the wind, cometh the ticks

Or somesuch nonsense. While the winds have been generally so’westerly, the patch birding has been rubbish. Very rubbish.

The wind has turned, and today I expected big things. Big things came, firstly a Heron in the morning (patch tick) and at lunchtime a bloody Hen Harrier! Superb patch tick!

I was of course sea-watching at the time and seeing little more than Gulls and Brent Geese. Which is normal. A Hen Harrier is not at all normal.
